Bladder

prostate visible in far field (8-11 cm)

Bladder in female patient (uterus visible deep to bladder) - the bladder walls appear uniformly thickened, which can indicate infection. In this case the patient had recently urinated so the thickened walls were a product of decompression

interesting exam - patient with ascites and Foley balloon - easy to mistake bladder for ascites and vice versa as illustrated with the Butterfly auto bladder volume tool to the right

good example of why bladder scanners provide inaccurate estimates of post void residuals in patients with ascites - the scanner can't differentiate between fluid in the abdomen and fluid in the bladder

large bladder in the transverse; estimated volume with b fly's volume tool was 433 mL

this is what an inflated Foley balloon looks like surrounded by a decompressed bladder - this catheter was functioning appropriately

sagittal view of bladder with anteverted uterus just deep to it, strings of IUD visible at about 8 cm on right side of image

Kidneys

rt kidney (and caudal tip liver) - didn't completely visualize inf pole, negative for hydro

LUQ, simple kidney cysts - simple cysts are thin walled without septa, calcifications, or solid components; renal cysts are common (1 out of 5) in people > 50, see Bosniak classification and UpToDate article on simple vs. complex cysts to know who to refer

transverse sweep through the kidney seen in the gif to the left - tough to dodge ribs and get a good transverse sweep from pole to pole

RUQ sweep through the kidney revealing a hilar cyst. Tough to distinguish hydro from a hilar cyst at times, but here there's little evidence of additional dilation in the collecting system making a cyst more likely.

more dedicated look at that alleged hilar cyst

the challenging transverse sweep through the kidney

In ATN the kidney loses its corticomedullary differentiation and all the parenchyma looks kinda homogenous. I think there's a cyst in the superior pole of the kidney, too.

pheochromocytoma superior pole left kidney

Prostate

large prostate deep to bladder - b/w 5 and 11 cm

another big prostate - bladder's a bit under-filled making the prostate tougher to see

here's a sagittal view of the large prostate seen in transverse in the image to the left

normal bladder and prostate - bit of reverb artifact in the bladder

shallow to deep: bladder, prostate, rectum
